Quick Grand-Am Keyless entry question

Hey guys, I recently purchased a '99 Grand-Am SE V6.

The car does Not have factory keyless entry, it may have the module (I dont know where it is supposed to be) but I didn't have the remotes.

Occasionally when I lock the doors, close the door and start walking away, the car will beep at me, and the lights will flash.

I figured that it's arming the passive alarm for some reason, and that I do have the keyless entry module. I went on ebay and purchased a Keyfob for a '99 grand-am, with programming instructions.

I got it, and tried programming it. No luck.

Now to my Question!

Am I correct in assuming that I DO have the keyless entry module since she sometimes beeps at me? If I do, where is it, and why can't I program my keyfob?

If i'm wrong. I found a keyless entry system,(two keyfobs and a module) , on Ebay, for a 2000 Grand-Am (And various other GM cars). Do you guys think it will work for my '99?

Thanks guys!

Smile Yes You Do Have It

Hello--I had the same thing happen to my 99 grand am and yes you do have keyless entry you are just missing the remote--I also ordered one off ebay because it claimed to work on other grand am years, and it did not--You have to have the correct vin number!

Eventually, I just went to the Pontiac dealer and bought a brand new remote --they programmed the remote to my car for free---the new remote was 50.00 --you can get them cheaper on ebay but you never know if they will actually work until you take it to the dealership

Spare yourself the trouble and dash out 50.00 for the new remote.
Good Luck!

Re: Quick Grand-Am Keyless entry question

Try www.keylessride.com they have a good deal on remotes and they include reprogramming instructions. The $tealership charges you to reprogram the KE to use new remotes.
