Aloha, new & need some help...

from those vette guru's amoung us. 1st, I'm NOT overly mechanically inclined, 2nd, I have a vette, problem??? Yes, right now it is as the car will not start. I've had it for about 5 months & all has been fine until yesterday. To the point, the rear hatch release failed to work, then I started the car, it idled very rough for 3 seconds & died....restarted it, pumped the gas for 5-10 seconds or so & then turned it off...tried to start it again & it will not. First thought was electrical, computer etc... . Fuses were okay...checked to hear the fuel pump come on, no sound, so I changed it today, hoping more than anything, still no luck. The car has 98k mi. changing the fuel pump probably is'nt a bad idea anyway, right? Nevertheless, I'm no closer than before the new pump. Any similar experiences, advice or expertise would be greatly appreciated. There are not a lot of corvette pro's out here in the middle of the Pacific ocean.
Aloha & thanks

if you're wanting to do it yourself find a mechanic that will look over the car before working on it. I know I sound sort of like an asshole, but get the free inspection to find out what's wrong with it, then tell the mechanic that you're going to go shop around for prices then go fix it. It's frugal, yeah.. whatever. Take what you can. Nice guys finish last.
