Tdi

What do you guys(gals, too) think about the golf GTI TDI? Any aftermarket parts available to speed them up? I think they come with only 90 hp stock, but at 50 mpg.... that's pretty good IMO. Post what you think

Hi, I'm in the UK and have a 2002 GTi TDi 150. It's a rocketship - 150 Bhp top end with 236 FtLbs of mid-range torque. It certainly doesn't need any 'go faster' parts! It still gives around 50 Mpg for normal driving, but this drops if you use full performance.

I guess you guys in the US are unfortunate to only have the 90 Hp version. You have my sympathy. :-))

150 bhp is pretty strong. Have you done any mods to it yourself? If not, do you know if any are available?

Thumbs up

It's as supplied from VW - rated as the top of the range diesel Golf with the lowered sports suspension, 6 speed box, and nice 16 inch alloys fitted with 205's. But it doesn't come cheap at around $35,000 here in the UK. At that price you expect not to have to buy extras.

Performance figures are 0 - 62 Mph in 8.6 secs and 134 Mph Top Speed.

Power output: 150 Bhp @ 4000 Rpm
Max Torque: 236 Ft.Lbs @ 1900 Rpm

No, I don't know what mods are available, but there are one or two specialist companies out there that cater for Golf TDi's. Sorry I can't be more helpfull.

Re: Tdi

You've been very helpful to me. I might consider buying one... not sure yet. I'm gonna check my T/A out and see what needs to be done with it and go with what best suits my budget. I'll probably need some better tires from my car... these things are terrible in rain/snow. With about 50% on them, they are sliding around like they have less than 3%. Anyway, thanks for the info!

ps: That's a lot of torque for your car! I would never have guessed it would be over 200.
