1989 XJ stalls after warmup suspected fuel pump

I suspect the fuel pump but i smell fuel it turns over fine idles erratic at 500 rpms surges then stalls sometimes it starts back up sometimes not pump the gas for 15 mins while turning over engine finally sarts up wtf is wrong with this thing?

remove and clean your 'idle speed stepper motor'(wd-40 and a toothbrush work well), and check the vacuum lines to your map sensor.

when it runs is it driveable? or does it just idle like crap and die?

It runs good most of the time but when allowed to idle it dies but 9 times out of ten starts right back up but that 1 time it will not start for shit. Thanks for the wisdom!

I went ahead and ordered another fuel pump anyways if thats not it ill have one here in Italy with me incase it takes forever for parts to be delivered here

you should also change your fuel filter before you go replacing the pump.

C/W the fuel pressure check ckecked perfect did the cps and it read .295 ohms where it is suppose to read 250 ohms i think so looks like the cps is the problem
