Unhappy Air Conditioning

I am new to this forum and I hope someone can help. My 10 amp fuse under the hood keeps blowing out. This is for the a/c. I replaced it and the same result. Did this ever happen to any of you? Any help would be greatly appreciated. 1998 Volvo S70 GLT.
Thanks

Funny you should ask, I JUST had this repaired yesterday. (Had exactly the same symptoms you're having.)

The first thing to check is the cabin air filter. Mine was completely plugged and causing the blower motor to draw too much current and hence trip the fuse. (Is your climate control system flashing any lights? If so, which ones?)

If the new / cleaned filter doesn't do the trick, you'll probably have to do what I ended up doing. (Since the blower ran so long against a clogged filter, it stopped working a few weeks after I cleaned the filter.) This is an ugly repair bill. (About $250 for the blower, and labor is expensive since the entrie passenger side of the dash and glovebox has to come apart to get at it.)

Try cleaning the filter first and see what you get.

Angry Re: Air Conditioning

I've got a 98 S70 and never had that problem. However, I've had probably every other electronic problem occur. I think I've replaced every light bulb in the car at least once and some sockets. (Volvo said it's because the lights are on more of the time......ya, right) Battery has been replace 4 times in 6 years, ignition switch, numerous oil leaks, check engine light's often activated, interior door panels coming unglued, front strut broke, door hinge broke. I've owned 4 Volvos in 20 years and this one is by far the fastest but the worst. Don't know if I will buy another........

2timer,

I had some of you problems with mine (lamps, sockets, one battery, interior door panels and strut.) All were repaired under warranty. My door panels were done in year four because I wanted to prolong their life as much as possible. Volvo shipped all new panels to my dealer who installed them under warranty at no cost to me. Did your panels start lifting after warranty?

I'm told that 98 was the first year Volvo used a new "environmentally friendly" glue, and the first formulation didn't work as well as subsequent ones.

I'm slotted for a new company car in August, and I'll be looking longingly at the S60R.
