2001 Tahoe won't start after turning off engine

I just ran into this problem.. and it's completely weird, since my truck was running fine all day!

Here's what happened.

Turned off the engine. Everything seems fine.

Return to truck and tried to start my truck. All of a sudden the power in my truck goes out completely. So I figure, I need to jump my truck.

So I jumped my truck, which took much longer than it should. Eventually the truck started. However, once I stepped on the accelarator, the power went out, and the engine died.

So I jump it again, once I got it running, I let it sit for a couple mins.

Turn off the truck, and try to start it again. Powers out once again!.

It seems like my battery is drained. Has my battery just discharged and is so weak now, that I need a new battery? Or is there something else causing the problem?

First, depending on the mileage on your vehicle, it may still be under GM bumperr to bumper warranty.

First I would check the battery cables..are they loose or do you see wetness under the positive cable?
If the battery looks wet under the positive cable, then the battery is leaking and acid has seeped into the cable and has started to corrode.

I checked the cables, they look fine, but i did notice alot of fluid around the bottom of the battery.

I took the battery out to inspect it, left it on it's side. I noticed that the battery fluid started coming out of it. This isn't suppose to happen is it?

your battery is leaking acid from the positive post, replace the battery, replace the battery bolt and clean and neutralize the cable and tray.
