Just purcahsed A 66 Chevy Nova SS, from the origional owner, car is unrestored, extremly low milage 41,000...white, blue interior, v/8, fact air etc....this car has a small ding in the rear Quarter and A minor dent in the bumper....the owner (now age 90} purchased the car new in Reno Nv and brought it to Ca, in 1982....my question is this....when you have ,what is a very nice, origional, musle car that has NEVER been modified ....What are some hints on what NOT to do to the car, eg; fixing every little ding and What to do to help preserve the vehicle....I just don't want to goof up ....thanks for any help you can provide for me....i

If you want to keep a car unrestored, you technically can only replace things that would normally wear out - such as belts and tires. The ding in the quarter and bumper might be repairable with tools, but don't repaint as that will count as a restoration and lower the value of the car. Just keep the car clean, waxed, and out of the elements and it should stay in good shape for many more years to come.

My question

Unless your planning on selling, why do you worry about it losing a bit of value if it's going to make it look good, are you going to drive this car, or park it to keep things from rusting out and needing to be replaced. It may lose a bit of value, but what was the purpose that you bought it for. Did you buy it as a collector car, or as a driver, if it's a driver then I'd think you want it to look as good as possible. A car can't last forever without help for it to do so.

True, if you plan on selling it soon, don't do anything. If you are going to keep it for yourself, you probably should get those things fixed.
