A4 is a 4-door, GTI a 2 door. How can you compare? If the 2 door Audi A3 with the turbo was here, then that should be compared to the GTI. And of course I would choose the A3. But since it isn't here yet, the GTI kicks the A4's butt in every performance category. I'm a 2-door holic! Now if you said S4, then I'd say YEA BABY!

 hey man good work sitcking up for your family sedan marketed for middle aged working men, how the hell did you afford an a4 anyways, if you payed anything over 16 grand you wasted your money, gti's the way to go dumbass

i'm going to have to go for the gti as well. with either motor, 1.8t or vr6.
not really a comparo, with a car that has 2 more doors and a couple hundred more pounds.

Thats a tough choice for me, I own a GTI but really wanted an A4, performance wise I have no doubt that a GTI would be preferable, but an A4 1.8t quattro with the same mods as a GTI would be a nice ride with a preferable launch. I guess it all depends on if you like a sedan or a hatchback and whether you want to spend 10k more for an A4 simply for more weight, luxury, and IMO a more refined appearance. I had the money and I thought the GTI was more fun and a better value.

how i see it u get both. get a gti and make it ur fun car. but get a vr6 quattro and the workin and travelin car. kinda hard to really say which is better, cuz u can make either cars really quick jus depends on u and $$$$$$. the gti ovcourse would be the cheapest.

The A4 dosnt come in a VR6 thats VW

the a4 comes with a 3.0 V6

assuming we're talking the older a4, it's a 2.8 v6. it's not a vr motor at all. it's a normal v, not a 15 degree narrow angle.
193hp. not bad.
but if you're looking to mod, you should get the 1.8t in an a4. the only mods really for the 2.8 v6 is the PES supercharger.
