4t65e-hd In A Gt??JJUBECK 12-12-2003, 03:55 PM Is this possable? I have been having many problems with my 4T65E tranny and was wonder if a stronger tranny would work with my GT L36 motor. Not really looking for the L67, I kinda like leaving people behind me in a N/A car. Thank you in advance. kilroypr 12-13-2003, 10:21 PM Of course it is possible as long as the ECU(PCM) knows the tranny you are installing and of course that the mechanically coupling(bolts, nuts and such) match. Exactly what is the problem you are having? Ripn12s 12-14-2003, 01:40 AM Just get the PCM reprogrammed for the correct gear ratio. kilroypr 12-14-2003, 09:08 AM Thanks Ripn12s The Burning Rom 12-14-2003, 11:46 AM Just get the PCM reprogrammed for the correct gear ratio. I agree :sunglasse Allowencer 12-15-2003, 02:51 AM If you have a 1997 GP GT then it requires ALOT more than just bolting it in. The 97 GT runs a 4T60E transaxle which is run off of vacuum. The 4T65E is electronically controlled. If your a 98-02 GT then you can just swap it out. If you do this then you will need to change the passenger side half shaft as well because that is different. PCM will needed to be changed over too. Also make sure you use the 4T65E-HD torque converter in that trans and not an old one. If you have any more questions you can contact me and I'll be happy to answer them for you JJUBECK 12-15-2003, 10:42 AM Thank you for your replies and the info, very much appreciated. The reason behind this is my tranny keeps slippin gears and doesn't react like it should. I have had two rebuilt tranny's and one new one straight out of the box, from the dealer. Now I know thats a lot but it's not completly my fault. Everyone was replaced under warranty. Now I know I have a lead foot and love the power and speed, but three tranny's in under 75,000 miles isn't a good thing. Basically I'm just tired of worrying if it's going to screw up again, so I figured why not put a beefer tranny in. Make sense? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
