2001 325xi SERVICE ENGINE SOON RESET LAMP?JACKALSMITH 12-12-2003, 09:27 AM I still refuse to go to bmw dealers to get an oil change. Why pay $150 for a synthetic oil change when most places will do it for around $40.00? I just want to know if there's a way to reset the service engine soon lamp on the dash, without any special tools or devices. 2001 325xi. Please let me know. Thanks. rasta0011 12-12-2003, 04:54 PM you have a few choices: buy your own reset tool at BMW aftermarket websites. have the dealer reset it for you, which may cost you, or deal with it. IT only appears when you strat or shut off your car right? Thats not soo bad. BMW wants you to go back to the dealer so like all car companies they make it difficult not to pay their outrageous prices. MioCLK 12-13-2003, 09:58 PM hm..doesn't BMW offer free scheduled maintanence, like Mercedes, Jaguar and Audi? Skycity_BMW 12-16-2003, 12:41 PM Try and go to www.bimmerzone.com They have the reset tool you need. ironman502 12-16-2003, 09:00 PM There's also a guy selling reset tools on eBay- I think he makes them himself, and he's sold hundreds. He charges $15.70; it comes to about 20 bucks with shipping. If your interested, search eBay for "325 reset tool." He always seems to have one listed. Sorry I can't tell you if it works, as I've never bought one, but the guy's feedback looks good so they must be OK. Later. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
