What are the typical horsepower gains for a cold air intake sucking
air from the fender farthest to the engine and with a heat shield on?

4-10 depending on the car, how restrictive your intake was to begin, and what model you buy.

Just make sure you don't place the intake too low in the fender well or you will suck up water in the rain.
