Unhappy Cold engine start

Im having a terrible problem with my Tahoe. 90% of the time on a cold engine start, a pronounced engine surge occurs (to the point that it often stalls out) If the engine doesnt die when Im still parked, it does it at the first stop sign or when I get to a slow idle (foot off of the accelerator) After 5 or ten minutes of driving it clears up. Ive taken it to two dealerships and they both have suggested a Motor Vac fuel cleaning, which unfortunately, didnt work, so do any of you have any suggestions?

the year might help, if its a new body style with drive by wire throttle control then have the throttle body cleaned. if its old body style possible fuel pressure regulator leaking.

Thanks for the responses. To answer your question, its an '01. I checked the fuel pump, and it seems to be in pretty good condition. I will try having the throttle body cleaned! Is this a problem that you have run into before?

Angry

I don't know if this is a similar problem.

but for some reason I can't seem to start my truck any more.

I need to jump it each time.

only problem now, is that after i jump it.. once i turn off the engine, I can't turn it on again!

do you think my battery is completely discharged? or something else?

Re: Cold engine start

if the throttle body is electronic and has no cable going to it then a good cleaning of the throttle plate and body bore should help, gm has a service bulletin for this which includes cleaning the throttle body and reprogramming the computer with updates for this concern
