I just want to hear what other Grand Prix GT owners have to say about their car. GTP owners say GT's suck. I think they're fast. I just want to know what cars GPGT's can beat, what the average 0-60 times are, available MOD's for the GT, anything. I want to keep this page GT only. As there are enough GTP pages circulating on this forum. This page is for GT's Only Please. I just want to feel better knowing a Grand Prix GT is better then most N/A cars.

I own a GTP but I have to tell you that I have never seen any 3800 engine owner dissapointed. Even if they are blown or not. I love gp's in general. I love when we kick German ass on the road or Tangs.
When we have way better looks than they do.
So feel proud that you are few of the americans that really is proud to sponsor american built vehicles.
I really respect people like you.

Check out the GT boys over at www.clubgp.com There are some of them that have gotten some pretty good times out of the N/A 3800.

I myself have given up on the N/A motor. I'm putting in a S/C motor this winter.

Rom, why are U switching to a SC? Tell me what you plan to do to it?

I'm switching because for the amount of money I spend on my N/A motor, I could put a modded S/C motor in and have more power. The motor will be cammed, have headwork done, P&P intakes and heads, LS1 TB, TEP pulley system, TOG headers, cheetah FWI, and a dyno-tuned DHP PCM.

The transmission will remain the stock GT transmission with the 3.29 gears, but I will be adding a Quaife ATB differential and a GMPP tranny cooler.

Wow, that is really something. With the correct PCM(ECU) coupled to all the mechanical modifications that thing really coould get close to the 310bhp on the wheels(dyno test).
My mods are focused on intake and better combustion but using OEM specs and parts.
All the tric is on the tranny and ECU.
But yours definetly would whipped mine good.
But mine is a day to day car driven an average of 400 miles a week. Yours is more like the circuit thing.
I have a friend that owns a beefed up M5 and invited me to the track just becauseI was able to be there for the first 110MPH.
Yours would really be real threat to this leage

Rom, I would really appreciate if you do not mind if you can send me the parts that you will be adding. I want to followup your progress and the dyno tests. Cause I might modify the cams, heads and headers.
It would be awesome if you could keep record of the increas after every mod is done(I know this is kinda hard, put the car together test it and then add more but it would be awesome) to keep track of what is what most power adds to a car so in the future we can put a monster on the road with the least modifications.
What I am looking for here is that if we can lure people to gp's and let them know that for a small amount of money(what ever that would be based on your project or others) could have a M3, Tang, Honda, etc etc etc. Ass buster on a tight slim package.
Tell me what you think?

Getting 310 at the wheels is not that hard of a task.

Cam
Pulley
PCM
Intake
Exhaust

With the right parts and good tuning that's all that it would take. Last time I dynoed the car it pulled 291hp at the wheels. That was without headers and on 93 octane.

People already know. It's called clubgp. Plenty of low 12 sec GPs on that site. A few 11's GPs and 2 10 sec GP's

If you want HP recipes that's the place to get them from.

I have a 98 GT. I have borla exhaust, high flow cat, and thrasher cold air. All the beginer stuff. My best win so far is was a 97 mustang gt 4.6L. It was a tight race it took me a while to pull away. If he'd knew how to race his car he might have won. I know how to launch my car I have the intelligence to shut off my air conditioning and radio too. I know he had flowmasters and it sounded cammed. I don't know what else was done. It probabally didnt help that he had a convertible hydraulic lifters weigh alot.

I've heard of people doing the rwd conversion.
From what I'm told its not worth the $. I mean what kind of times you getting with that?

Where you from I'd like to see it?

DonFrem, respectfully. I beleive that even tought V8s are great engines, older engines can not push the same HP that a newer engine can based on the alloys(less weight, less inertia), new intake systems, new fuel feed systems(intake and fuel are more efficient now) avaialble on newer engines. Even Corvetter are getting almost the same power now on a small 350 when older ones required a 427 or 454.

To get a small V8 perform well there are mods you have to make to it and all the welding and changing on the car to make it RWD does really have given substantial performance gain?

I know folks that have put V6's and V8's into Toyota Starlet but in their case there is a substantial gain without mods because they are driving basically just the engine weight. THe GP is a 3000+ pounds car so your V8 has to be beefed up to make substantial gain in my humble opinion

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but is there an easy and/or inexpensive way to remove the electronic speed limiter on a 99 GT? I can't express how disappointed I was when I found out that such a great engine is being limited to such a wimpy top speed.

Does anyone know what kind of top speed a mostly stock GT can achieve without the limiter?
