i own a 85.5' 944 (all stock) and was wondering what its potential for a drift car was. with 50/50 weight distrabution its already a desect platform but was wondering it there was enough power? also what do you 944 guru's perfer for building it based on drifting and where to start

No way! I was just about to post the exact same question. I'm coming to the States next year and was looking at a 944/968 for my ride when I get there. How much are they BTW?
I haven;t driven one yet but from my knowledge they should be good for drift. A 944 Turbo or 968 Club Sport (do you have those in the U.S.?) would be powerful enough.
Anyone have any answers?

they run anywhere from $1,100 (how much i got mine) to 7,000

you one wanna put the money into buying a well maintained 944 (save you alot of hassel later) and go with the 951 (944 turbo) lots more mods and more popular

oh thats just what i read in stat charts "with rear mounted gearbox to give the 944 50/50 weight"

The car isnt 50/50, its near 50/50 (turbo version anways) i think its more like 52/48.

You have to remember car specs tend to be rounded off. Even the displacement isnt really 2.5L its more like 2.489 or something like that.

968 will run you $20,000 easily. 944 Turbo is cheaper and has alot more potential than a 968. 968's look cooler though. There is a 968 Turbo but its very rare is pretty much unatainable plus ther car would be worth more in stock condition.
