Question 90 ford taurus evaporater

my evaporator line somehow sheared off clean and I would like to repair it rather than replace it.I would like to slide a hose over the broken section and clamp it........Is this possible?.....If so what kind of hose and kind of sealent would I need?....Next step would be refilling the system.I'm not sure how the procedure works...keep in mind I am in canada although the U.S. border is two blocks from my house.....(just a little worried about bringing it back).....Any advice would be helpful.
