Red face Initial D Arcade Stage "Not Realistic?"

At the mall, where I saw a few guys playing it, the cars seem to be equally fast. For example, I saw a guy driving an R34 Skyline against Itsuki's 85; when he made a little crash, the 85 just past him by! It took him half a lap just to get ahead of him! (this was on the Myogi course). And, I saw this launch up where you rev the engine like mad and switch immediately to the 3rd gear, and it gets you ahead by 20 feet in an instant! Also, don't you need to brake to drift? Because I saw people just turning the steering wheel and busting out crazy looking drifts. And one more thing, I drove the S2000 and it's redline was only at 8000rpm (Note* the 00-03 S2000 has a redline at 9000rpm, the 04 has a redline at 8000rpm and Initial D AS came way before that). And to top it off it cost 1$ to play it once! This is not the most realistic nore cheap racing game ever, and thats my opinion. But if you want something a little more real, you should try Ridge Racer 5, Midnight, and my personal favorite Battle Gear. Plus they're cheaper. And if you got opinions, tell me. And don't tell me I suck at the game(I only played it twice) or I'm a hater, because I'm not. I'm not a very bad person. I'm really not...

Well, if you ask me the two most realistic driving games in arcades are F355 Challenge by Sega and Atari's classic Race Drivin' (first racing game with a force feedback steering wheel, 3d graphics, and a clutch pedal).

No, Initial D Arcade Stage isn't particularly realistic, and it is pretty expensive, but its a driving game that draws crowds of players at arcades, and that in of itself is a worthy thing.

its an arcade game. as long as it entertains people well it doesnt have to be very realistic.

I got to agree with Ferrari F355!
And it handles like you are on a roller coaster if you drive right, its a arcade game, if you wanna simulator, get back into your car

what do you expect from an arcade game, if you want realism you play Gran Turismo. as for drifting, no you dont need to brake to drift.

Who said you did?
Gran Turismo isnt that realistic either...
Face it, we wont ever have a realistic game for consoles, after all, you play it with 6 buttons and a joystick...
Another thing: If you ever lose to the AE85, its because you suck. Initial D isnt the most realistic racing game, its based around shifting, and the car rankins are weeeird. The AE85 is just an AE86L just made to look ugly.
The rank for Ver1(Itsuki doesnt race on Myougi in ver2, so..) is
1. Mazda RX7 Type R (FD3S)
2. Toyota Sprinter Trueno (AE86)
3. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV (CN9A)
4. Subaru Impreza WRX STi (GDB)
5. Honda Integra Type R (DC2)
6. Mazda RX7 Efini (FC3S)
7. Nissan SilEight (RPS13)
8. Mistuchi Lancer Evolution VII (CT9A)
9. Nissan 180SX (RPS13)
10. Subaru Impreza WRX STi (GC8)
11. Nissan Silvia (S13)
12. Nissan Skyline GTR (R32)
13. Nissan Silvia (S14)
14. Mistubishi Evolution III (CE9A)
15. Honda S2000 (AP1)
16. Toyota MRS (ZZW30)
17. Toyota MR2 (SW20)
18. Nissan Skyline GTR (BNR34)
19. Toyota Corolla Levin (AE86)
20. Nissan Silvia (S15)
21. Mazda Roadster(NB8C)
22. Honda Civic Type R (EK9)
23. Honda Civic SiR (EG6)

The game is all based around its weird way of shifting (trust me), for a 6 gear car, you have to shift straight into 3rd, and shift into 4th around 4.5k, 5th at 5k, then go into 6th at 135 kph
A 5 gear car is straight to 2nd, 3rd at 4.5k, 4th at 5k, and 6th at 135kmph
The cars shift points are extremely similar, and those generic shift points work out pretty well, (except the Trueno with Basic Tune engine, just find the relative location on the tach)

Remember, its an arcade game, rules in normal driving dont apply here
ex: ver2, taking the grand turn in Myougi wet at 180 degrees? crazy but thats the worlds fastest...

Yeah, because we all know drifting in Hyundai's with "NOSSSS" is just so realistic, right?
Even TXR:3 is better than that...
The Real Car Simulator series were pretty realistic...
I got RCS:Nissan Edition and its pretty fun (for PC)
