water pump

i own a 92, and yesterday i was about two seconds from home, and my car stalled. i stopped, started it back up, and drove the rest of the way. when i got home, i noticed a nocking noise comming from the engine. i called my local toyota repair dude, and he said it was the water pump. he wanted about $450 to repair it. i figured i could do it myself, since my friends and i work on cars all the time. i was just curious if anyone knew how exactly to replace the water pump, because right now, im not doin so hot on finding out how. email me at trackrunner22000033@yahoo.com if you want, or just post a reply, i check this forum about every day now. and btw, if anyone is selling a decent but cheap toyota, cuz im a kid, and cant afford much over about a grand. email me right away.

hi. I have a 93 paseo, and i just had my water pump break along with my whole damn radiator and all of that good stuff, the problem that i have with my waterpump is that i can't get to it without lifting the car about 4 feet above the ground. Im not exactly sure how to install it either, thats why i took mine to my friends shop so he could do it.

I know working on your car can be fun, and its always interesting learning new things about parts, but i think that you should just let the shop do it for the 450 bucks, saves you the time and the possibility of further damaging your car while trying to install it or take it off.

There are 5 nuts on the water pump. 4 are really easy to remove, the 5th now is a whole different story. You actually have to remove the motor mount to get to it. Yea I know it is stupid. So yes you will have to raise it up off the left side motor mount, remove that then replace. To get to the 4th bolt on the motor mount, you have to remove the timing belt cover. Yea I know it is even stupider. there is alot of room in our engine bays, why did they do it like that I dont know. It is a pain in the rear even with the engine out. Because I cannot rwemove the crank pulley. Good luck though if you need more help and are going to do it I can post the whole step-by-step-er

Can you post the whole step by step process, please? We are in the process of trying to change a 1992 Paseo water pump and sure could us the help.
