Help with my 95 jetta

Hello,Im kinda new to this site so far I like it, my name is Eric im From Knoxville, TN I just bought a 95 Jetta III GL 2.0 5sp its my 1st german car and so far I love it, im really used to Hondas and stuff but Im really tired of seeing them on the road, so I kinda got something diff to play around with and fix up, seems how I dont see many jetta's on the street fix up like you do all the honda's...the car I have has about 171,000 miles on it, the owner before me took really good care of this car, and 90% of the miles are hwy miles, but there still miles, but the car runs great, im wanting to run a nitrous kit on it but i dont want to run a big shot to where I scater the motor pats on the road, so I was thinking about 30-75 shot, im about to put a MSD system on it and do the suspension later next week, anyway anything you guys can help me making the right choice's for this project would be cool, like I said this is my 1st german car, and im wanting to make it fast but also be a daily driver, I know sounds retarded lol

Re: Help with my 95 jetta

Congrats on the ride. I also recently picked up a 95 Jetta GLS. Pretty hard to pimp out or race up a jade green Jetta with a tan leather interior. So I'm keep my mods visually quiet.

Re: Help with my 95 jetta

scurry 7 - at least you got the v6 engine!

I looked for weeks and could not find one.

Jetta95, the leather seats are nice and at age 40, I'm past the racing thing anyway. But happy for you guys, I did my racing on 900cc of Japanese crotch rockets years ago in the canyons of Malibu at the Rock Store.

Maybe a rosewood dash trim kit and in a couple years a Passat for me - with 17-18" dubs though!

Re: Help with my 95 jetta

I would suggest you to run about a 50 shot, but u got alot of miles i would think bout rebuilding the motor, its cheap and goes into good effect. i wouldnt bother wit the MSD, the stock bosch systems runs perfect, jus upgrade ur wires and plugs. and as for suspension, i suggest either neuspeed race springs or the eibach sportline, the cheap 100 springs give a shitty ride. if ur gonna rebuild it i put it some forged alooy pistons and get some polyurethane motor mounts.. ull notice the diff. ill rev smootherr and drive better overall.

Re: Help with my 95 jetta

be real carfeul of the suspension mods u buy some can work realllllll good and others cannn make the ride worse. since ur a newbie to vw, dont bother wit an open intake cone filter, jus grab a k&N filter cut a hole in the box where the fender is so it breathes cold air, and invest in the neuspeed chip or giac chip. the biggest diff belive it or not, get some lightweight 15s wit Z rated tires. a good set of springs and shocks. ull think the car had 10 more horses, the stock wheels r heavyy. dont go 16 or 17 or jus hurtn urself then, they may look better but ur makin the engine try harder.

Re: Help with my 95 jetta

o yea and make sure the wheels r atleast 6 inches wide, cuz the jetta has more torque than power, getting tranction gets hard sometimes.

Re: Help with my 95 jetta

thanks man that has to be the best info I have goten from thease forums, IM ording some KYB shocks and Struts from work this week I hear they are good then im going to order the Eibach springs later on when the fundage is good, right now im just getting stuff then later on when it warms up like during the spring ill put them all on at once, about the MSD Id like to have it just for the rev limiter cause for some reason mine dont have one, kinda found that out the hard way.... my dad works at a junk yard and im going to have hime get me a engine block and the head out of a jetta or heck I might just have him find me a Tubro motor and the computer and just do the complete engine swap , what do you think ?? then freshen the motor up... im just doing some research for right now making sure Im not going to do the wrong thing and hurt my self in the long run....
