introducing myself..and have a question

Hello!
My name is Abe and i'm new to volkswagons. RIght now i have an 89 nissan 240sx with a redtop SR20DET and all bolt ons hks turbo blah blah blah....anywho i need a car to get to work and school everyday and i don't wanna put alot of miles on my SR, so i decided i want a GTi. i want the IV model gti, from my researching i'm guessing that thee 99-2002 right? heres my question, which would be more reliable the VR6 or the 1.8t. i'm not too worried about which is faster or has more power, but i do want something to have fun with. i was leaning more to the VR6 side just so i won't have to deal with turbo maintence. i know all about that from experience. well thanks and comments and suggestion are welcome!

sorry i had to put this, its soo funny! lol...

The Vr6 will probably end up being more reliable for you, if you're just driving it to work and back on a daily basis. But mind you the 1.8t have a very low boost pressure so the wear caused by the turbo is rather minimal.
