If you had a choice between a 2003 RSX 5 speed, or a 1.8T 5 speed, which would you rather have.....keep in mind stock performance, and reliability

hmmm....what do u think the response is going to be from the gti section of AF? my choice is a 1.8Tl, even factoring in reliability. would u rather have a car w/or w/out a turbo stock? the gti has more potential for tuning and, in my opinion, it has better styling. think what u want, but what do u expect from a gti driver?

i am a big fan of acura but the GTI 1.8t is just way easier to make faster, so 1.8t.

i dont really like the acura's that much either, the only thing remotely nice is the gear box and vtech combo but way to high to rev to get to the power....... vws use much better alloys in the engines and i can speak personally that the stock bottom end on a 1.8 vw can hold as much as 30 psi boost. :evillol:

i currently drive a highly modded 00' vr6 gti and love it but it's your call, good luck!

does the gti come in 6 speed or is that only the r32?
could you swap that 6 speed in
but yea i would take the 1.8t even tho it weighs a ton

THE GTI but grab the 337 thats for 2002, its basiclly the same thing as a standard gti but it has a 6 speed some 18s and its a bit lighter. goes from 0 to 60 in 7.7 and hits the 1/4 in 15 flat

I chose GTI 1.8T over the RSX because I love having tons of torque down low instead of waiting for the rpm's to get up there before anything happens. Call me impatient. :evillol:

GTI 1.8T > RSX
RSX Type S > GTI 1.8t (stock, but mod wise 1.8t is favorable)

If your looking at a RSX 5 spd, then it's not a Type-s, so it only has I think 150 hp, compared to the 1.8t which is what, 180hp. Reliability wise, the Acura is going to be more reliable than the VW. The blown motors people talk about in the RSX is from, what I have heard many times, is that the shifts are too close together and people downshit to 2nd, instead of going into 4th, and blow it then. If your careful with it the Acura would be more reliabe, but the 1.8t looks better and has more power and more potential from the start.

1.8T is a fair bit faster.
I've heard from several suorces that the powertrain in the RSX has issues. Apparently downshifting voids parts of the warranty.........lame.

When you're racing you're never even really in the lower RPM...
Get an RSX. It weighs about 180 lbs less. Plus when you have a turbocharged engine and an All motor engine both pushing about 100 hp per liter, the all motor is better since in this case its larger(IMO). By the way, when exactly does your turbo start spooling up? And yeah, the Type S just like the S2000 has a problem of people shifting into the wrong gear a little more often then they should. :2cents:

Drive both. I'd get the GTi but, you never know until you drive both of them and see what you like better. No one else can know what you like better.

the 1.8T is undoubtedly the better of the two. i like all-motor as much as the next guy, but when it comes down to it, who are you gonna be? the dude driving the german sportscar, or the dolt driving the honda.

you decide

of course you will recieve a biased opinion in here, as someone who has owned both brands, and driven both cars, i would choose the RSX over the Gti. The GTi will be easier to mod and see gains from, but if youre looking at stock for stock, the RSX is the way to go IMO

undoubtedly? :disappoin lol... german sports car?... I guess.... :grinno:... its obviously not the bench mark, but I suppose you could call it sporty.

Get the GTI. It's very easy to get big numbers out of that car. I was kind of excited to see the RSX and I drove an rsx type s when it first came out and was way dispointed. The gearing is horrible! Plus with the GTI you get solid german engineering.
