Question

True of False:
No factory Integra Type R was ever sold, on any continent, with a sunroof.

I saw an Integra today that looked really good that had Type R decals. It was white (quite possibly Championship White), had the JDM front end, the correct Type R spoiler and a well-matched body kit. It even had matching white Volk TE-37 wheels. It looked really good, but it also had a sunroof, which has always been my indication the this Integra probably started its life as a GS-R and this fellow has put a lot of careful time and effort into it.

So am I wrong? Were any sold with sunrooves? I recently learned that a four-door Integra Type R is sold (in Japan, I think), so what else have I missed?

Too bad that you didn't get the chance to count the studs on the rims.... because ITR's are five lugs.:alien:

Nice point! In fact, I did count. It had four lugs. Hmmm.

I believe that's right, that the Type R's are only sold without sunroofs. As toto pointed out, Type R's also have the five lugs. So this was in fact a lower trim Integra nicely beefed up to look like a Type R, as suspected.

Yep i think looking at the lugs is the best way to find out if it is truely a Type R . Hell u can paint the car put emblems , wing , all that stuff but i think its pretty hard to change a cars lug from 4 to 5 and if someone really does go through all that trouble then their just a LOSER!!!!!

Question My question is:

If they're going to spend all that time and money on parts and labor to make a regular Integra look like a Type R, why not just wait for a real one, and get the good powerplant, too?

Speaking of which, I've seen about five real Type R's in the past week. All had dealer plates on them.

Type R means that honda was trying to get to the bare bones of the car. The object was to get more in touch with the element of racing. That's why any unecessary weight is removed, such as the moonroof. There are a lot of sacrifices made to make the car what it is. But man oh man, what a nice car it is! Screw the moonroof!!

Yep I agree... that guy you saw was just a ricer with money... the only you couldn't see was what was under the hood... he might've done an engine swap...

i saw this GSR on ebay that did a cosmetic Type-R conversion ... everything was changed except for the engine... changed the lugs, spoiler, decals.... looked like an authentic type-r except for the engine was a GSR engine... it had like 10K miles and was being sold for like 16K.

guy probably blew his engine which is why he had a gsr engine in it....was it the jdm type r engine? might have been.....

yeah, type r is 5 lug, and no sunroof cuz it adds too much weight to the car, type r is a racing machine....heh heh
