Anyone know if its legal to paint tail lights? I found some red staind glass paint that would nice on my civics tails but i dont want to get a ticket or anything.

Check with an officer in your area before doing it. In most jurisdictions anything that is not stock lights will earn you a ticket.

basically it'll be fine if the paint doesn't block the brightness of the taillights.
Also you need to have the right color of bulbs.
turn signals - orange, yellow, red
reverse -- white
brake lights - red
you would also need two red reflectors built-in the tail lights.

on my buddy's 01 Eclipse, we took vinyl and covered his tail light lenses, then cut out circles around each of the different lights. Looks pretty good. The cops haven't said anything to him about it yet.

id check it out first. the last thing you want is to paint the lights and the next day get pulled over

Anything you do to the OEM lights on your car could be concidered improper aftermarket lighting and could cost you a $35.00 fine in Mass.....

in CA withe turns lights are legal as well as orange brake lights in pre 76'

white turn sigal lights are legal only in the front, side marker (turn signal lights) has to be yellow/orange, and rear turn signal lights can be red, or yellow/orange.
And yeah....orange brake lgihts are legal for pre-1979 model year
