light on instrument panel?

I have a 98 Camry LE V6
I don't have an owners manual so I need some help on an instrument panel light that has recently come on. It is located to the left of the fasten seatbelt indicator below the temp gauge. It is yellow in the shape of a car from overhead with 3 lines behind both sides in the rear.
It seems to have something to do with the brakes, but what?
When the brake is depressed to put into gear the light comes on and stays on. What does this light mean?

Thanks for the input.
In checking the lights it appears I have an issue with the brake light in the rear window.
