Was just waundering if anyone knew of any sites where i could find full kits or maby just parts to turbo a 4th gen. accord <92 ex>, and also if it is trye that you can use a 1st gen dsm turbo manifold if you get it redrilled? Thanks for your time

I've seen some on ebay for sale. I think turbomax makes them just do a search. However, for the $2K to $3K you are going to spend buying and installing a turbo you could be better off paying a bit more to swap in an H22A engine. Here's why:

1. I assume your Stock F series engine has over 100K miles on it. If so you really should rebuild your engine before adding a turbo. There goes about $1000 for a rebuild.

2. You F series engine is from 130-150hp A JDM H22A comes stock at 200HP, comes with about 20K-60K miles on it and cost about $3K + about another $1K to install if you pay someone to do it. If you have about $500-800 extra you should order one with a LSD (Limited Slip Differential) so that both your front wheels spin at launch instead of just the one that is slipping the most.

actually im getting an 87 integra for winter so i can put my car away for repairs (i wrecked it bad back in feb.) cause i want it to be done for this upcomming summer so i can show it but i planned on pulling the motor anyways for painting and am going to rebuild my motor while it is out...... and the more i look into the turbo stuff i find it is actually rather cheap if you piece a kit together and that way i can buy pieces as i get the money and not need one large sum at one point in time

Well if you are committed to doing a turbo on an F series engine then there's a guy on my website that is selling some turbo parts for a Prelude that will probably work on your F series engine. The manifold won't work but he might be able to weld you one up for your Accord. His name is Kevin and his stuff is located about mid page. Here's the link

oh and dont listen the whole H22 is better shpeal.

but it is better, more reliable, less mantinance and the same amount of power - unless you build the f22, in which case it becomes very expensive quickly. But they are about the same when it all boils down.

the H22 is no more reliable than a boosted F22. I have seen PLENTY of H22s blow up. iv never heard of an F22 on boost blowing up.

If you do it right the first time there really is not much more maintenence. And you can get more power from F22 boost than a stock H22 for half the price. My setup cost $900-1000 with stand alone management. H22 cost $2000 alone never mind install. At least the average person can install turbo with hosehold tools.

plus you cant forget the coolness factor of the blow off valve and turbo spooling sound.

Also, I'm curious how did you weld in an oil return line to your oil pan with common household tools?

The oil pan had to be welded by my friend who has a welder, sorry i didnt think of that, but it would only cost very little to have a shop do it. its only a .5 inch circle

$1K is still pretty good for a DIY turbo considering most kits from places cost upwards of $3K + installation. Do you have a write up anywhere on your turbo installation and what components you have?

stock accord f22a bottom ends are good for 330hp at the wheels. the rods crank and pistons are very strong from the factory

What engine type is a 90 accord?

In the 90 Accord EX USDM it is a F22A4. The ratings are stock 130HP@5200RPM HP and 142@4000 Torque at the crank.

My 90 is currently at about 150HP@4750 and 165@4750 Torque at the crank. Here's the link to the dyno chart if you want to see it.
