Improved Fuel Economy for Full Sized Pickups

A major auto company announced that they will be building hybrid full sized pickups and SUVs that get substantially better fuel economy. The heavy duty gasoline-electric vehicles, which will be offered starting with the 2007 model year, are expected to get about the same gas mileage as a mid-size sedan. The manufacturer is going start building an interim hybrid pickup in the next few weeks. The new higher efficiency trucks are being designed and built in response to competitive pressures, not new regulations.
