Keyless Entry

Does anyone know how to program the keyless entry for a 1995 Aurora. Just got mine, pretty sweet, 75k miles on it, trying to fix up the transmission on it, replaced the break pads and now trying to program a new remote I got for it, from the dealer, <$120 for it, don't feel like adding to it by taking it to the dealer. Thanks!

Re: Keyless Entry

Do you have the owners manual? It may be in there. I only have procedure for OBDII, if there's a diff.

here's how to do it.
Turn ignition switch "off"
Using a fused jumper, juper data line connector terminal 8 (blk/wht) to terminal 4 Blk close all doors
turn ignition switch "on" door locks cycle
press and hold lock and unlock button on one transmitter alter a 30 second delay the doors will lock and unlock
repeat step to program extra transmitters
do not turn off ignition, if switch is turned off the first transmitter will become inoperative.
disconnect jumper from DLC

that works
i did it.

Re: Keyless Entry

That's what I used also, worked on two new remotes. I thought OBDI connector may be different than II. I can't get the perimeter lighting feature to program or work. Any help with this would be welcomed. BTW, gmpartsdirect.com has new remotes for $42.50 ea.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the replies, although I guess I am not that tech savvy, I have no idea what ="Using a fused jumper, juper data line connector terminal 8 (blk/wht) to terminal 4 Blk"= means. You think you could explain that in laymen terms? I would really appreciate it...

Re: Keyless Entry

I can e-mail the instructions to you if you want to post your address. We can't post images here. The DLC is under driver side dashboard. It's tapered on the ends. The wider horizontal row of female pin connectors is where you count from left to right(driver to passenger side), the 4th input and 8th input. The 8th is the last one. Some are color coded, some are numbered(very small). My car has neither, so count to be sure. Ideally, a fused jumper wire should be used to protect the electronics. Most use a SMALL paperclip. I used arts&crafts wire. Just don't damage the pin receptacle.

#8 is blk/wht #4 is blk. for a fused link take a 3 or 4 amp fuse and tape a wire to each end. if you can't see the wire color take the two screws out on either side and drop it down

Have the same question regarding a 1996 Aurora...

Just purchased a new remote on ebay and need to program it to work (along with my existing unit).

Does anyone know if the instructions posted here for the 1995 model are the same for the 1996 model?

Not sure, but I believe the system changed in 1996 to the tear drop shapped remotes which support code hopping. My understanding is that the 1995 model had the old style square remotes that did not support code hopping.

Are the "fusable jumpers" available at auto stores - or would I need to build my own. I'd rather err on the side of safety and use a fuse in the circuit rather than the old paper clip jump...

Thanks!
