daytime running lightshoot972 11-11-2003, 02:16 AM i have a 96 with daytime running lights. now that i don't have to have them can i disconect them. how without causing problems to other lights? Indy8 11-11-2003, 12:38 PM No. They intentionally buried the circuit deep into other stuff to make it nearly impossible to disconnect due to the public controversy. They already knew a lot of people didn't like them and would try. This has also been gone over many times on GMForums. There is a dedicated fuse marked "DRL" but if you yank it out I think it affects other things. Try it. hoot972 11-13-2003, 05:35 PM no drl fuse. runs through ign 1 fuse? there is a drl resistor. Indy8 11-14-2003, 02:34 AM I wouldn't mess with it. hoot972 11-19-2003, 02:44 AM unplugged drl resistor (located left front fender) all seems to work fine and no daytime running lights Indy8 11-19-2003, 04:38 AM So where is the load on that circuit going? hoot972 11-19-2003, 04:17 PM damn indy i'm not that smart.my guess, no where since i unplugged it. am i screwing something up? i'm posting another question that i hope you can answer, i'm betting you can. Indy8 11-19-2003, 05:47 PM If nothing's getting hot and/or melting, and no fuses are blowing, it's probably fine. hoot972 11-19-2003, 05:53 PM thats what she said. just kidding, but i sure hope so jim56 11-19-2003, 07:50 PM Why do you want them off? hoot972 11-19-2003, 08:43 PM i like having control of my options to turn things on or off and don't like the idea of the government deciding for me. or burning low beams at 1/3 power thus burning out my bulbs early. i believe they should be separate bulbs like gm trucks #3157LL, their cheaper than headlight bulbs. Indy8 11-19-2003, 10:10 PM Hey, Jim's back! rodtice 11-19-2003, 10:21 PM on my buddy's 97 Chevy pickup if you want DRL off just push the park brake to the first click. Indy8 11-19-2003, 10:31 PM rodtice, did you get that showroom brochure? rodtice 11-20-2003, 08:25 AM Yes I did, how did you know about it? Indy8 11-20-2003, 12:39 PM Just happend to see your username as high bidder while browsing E-bay. I got one a few weeks before that, it's brand new! I also got the Power Behind Indy one. It's nice, but not worth the $14 with shipping that I had to pay to get it. Who knows how many copies these sellers have, but as soon as one is sold another is posted. The Indy one is cool and bidding always starts at $5, so some probably get one for less than I did. Indy8 11-23-2003, 06:54 PM Tried the one click on e-brake to turn off DRL's thing; didn't work. jim56 11-23-2003, 07:59 PM I got a couple off E-bay a while back.. 96 and 97.... they are pretty cool jim56 11-23-2003, 08:02 PM rodtice, did you get that showroom brochure? If anyone wants the big showroom brochure from 96 let me know. I bought one, then found the one from 97 that i really wanted. So I have a spare from 96. looks to be brand new. jjdewd 12-26-2003, 03:20 PM unplugged drl resistor (located left front fender) all seems to work fine and no daytime running lights Can't seem to find this drl resistor. If I do and unplug it, with the sentinnel off will I be able to run just parking lights? Even if slightly dark out? Indy8 12-26-2003, 05:43 PM I think it's a white ceramic thing, kinda looks like a tuning fork, bonded to the inside of the drivers front fender. Remove the top of the airbox to see it. jjdewd 12-27-2003, 02:11 AM thanks Indy Indy8 12-27-2003, 02:48 AM I'm not positive that's what it is, it just sounded like the area that was described earlier. I have not tried to disconnect mine. Good luck! Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
