95 Trooper - tighten alternator beltmvngye 11-10-2003, 07:25 PM We've been having squealing of the fan / alternator belt, the first 10 - 15 seconds after starting. Because of prior squealing, had belts replaced recently, but it continues. Yes, antifreeze was spilled at one point, but that was over 3-4 weeks ago. Need to know how to tighten alternator belt. I know where the bolt is for the sliding bracket, but what other one do I have to loosen, and how do I get to it, to allow me to tighten it? Thanks very much. 2eyefishclaw 11-10-2003, 09:33 PM loosen the bottom bolt that holds the alt in place it is bolted to the bracket that you called the sliding bracket 12mm head on this bolt if you dont then you cant adjust belt tension mvngye 11-11-2003, 07:01 PM Thanks very much.
