Anyone out there have any ideas on removing the engine from a ford windstar 1995.

I am looking to see if the typical home mechanic can do this job or do I have to take it to the shop

Thanks,

girard

I think you have to drop the cradle with the motor and transmission.

Yes, you do have to drop the cradle, transaxle and engine but how would the home mechanic accomplish this task without a car lift?

You can't do it with out an engine crane or car lift.

Yes you can do it. It is just allot of work if you do not have a lift. All you need to do is put the vehicle on jack stands and remove everything to drop the motor/tranny down then once thsi is done... you will have to carefully lift the van enough to slide the motor/tranny assembly out from under it by jacking then blocking the van small amounts at a time. You will need at least 2 floor jacks and lots of blocking. Now most will say that I am full of it.. but some people out there cannot afford to spend $2000.00 to have it swaped. I agree that it is very hard and allot of work to do it without a lift.. but it is not impossible. Where theres a will... theres a way right?
