I want to put a flowmaster on my 4.3 s-10, however I don't want the pissed off bumblebee sound. should I go 40 series or 50 series?

I am running Edelbrock headers to a Y into a high flow CAT and then a Flowmaster single in single out with a turndown at rear axle on my 4.3 and it sounds great. Flowmaster is known for a deep mellow tone with nice interior sound. 50 series will be a little quieter than 40. If you do something like I did may I suggest getting a DUAL out muffler and running your tailpipes to where they slant down behind each rear wheel. The big tips straight out the back is getting old. Or a single out muffler will work if you split into dual after the muffler. My friend did that with 2" tailpipes and sounds pretty good. I think your confusing the Edelbrock 40 and 50 series with these silly mufflers all the kids are using. I never heard a Flowmaster sound like that. Seems kind of funny that 10 years ago I would get pulled over by cops for my exhaust being to loud when I ran "cherry bombs" or glasspacks but now every wanna be racer with a little Neon Cavalier can make all the noise they want. Atleast my noise was real HORSEPOWER. But anyway thumbs up to anyone who is annoyed by pissed of bumblebees.

How much HP are you producing if you are still stock with no cam I would stick with a single 2.5 piping and a 40 series flow.

If you have some big mods the go with 2in duals and the 50 series. It all depends on what sound you want to produce.

im a real noob to tuning. i got 2001 s10 crew cab LS 4.3 vortec. i have been lookign to redo the exhaust and wanted to put dual exhaust on it and on the flowmaster site they have a kit but its only single muffler, single out. i was wondering if you have to buy 2 mufflers and buy generic piping and cut it down myself?

Are you sure there isn't a 40 series with a single inlet and two outlet?

They offer two 40series one called the original the other called the Delta Flow. Did you check the delta flow?

probably but i was taking about how i could make that into a dual with out doing the cutting and stuff.

Edit: i looked and there is a 2.25 inlet magnaflow muffler/with 2 2.25" outlets. so that would me i would need to find a 2.25" exhaust.Cat back means before the catalytic converter rite? would it be easier to get a dual outlet cat and then get 2 mufflers?

If you want to run dual mufflers you can get a high flow cat and run a y piece anywhere after the cat (catback is behind cat) and then it will split into dual exhaust. I see no reason for it. Flowmaster does make a single in dual out muffler and that would be plenty and still sound good. FLOWMASTER makes many dual outlet mufflers. You will probably want a 2.5" in and your dual outs will be up to you. They have 2", 2.25" and 2.5" dual outlets. That is the 40 series I think the 50 series has dual 2" outlets

what i keep hearing is that the flowmasters on the 4.3L sound real tinny, higher pitched, but i keep hearing that the Ravin' muffler on it is real deep not too loud, but still high flow. i think that's the way i'm going. and dual exaust sounds like a waste of money on these engines. if you have some serious modifications to your 4.3L then go with a larger diameter pipe and just run one. i have a 95 s-10 blazer 4x4 and it doesn't have any room for any sort of dual exaust. but if anyone has used the ravin, hit me back on here quick.

I have the same 4.3l but in a full size truck. I was wondering if there was a way to install a true dual system?

you can do true duel on 4.3 but it isnt needed nore does it do any good, i did a flow go muffler with highflow cat and notice a difference at the wheels

1.) installing dual exhaust is a waste of money on a 4.3L

2.) If you want to run dual tailpipes, use a single in / dual oulet flow 40.

I would recommend a Ravin Z55.

Mine sounds awesome.

i like the way yours sounds blazer (im sure the sound clips dont do justice, but i like it) but if H-man has the same problem i did, he wont get them, the people at the midas here are as competent as the ones from autozone... make sure the shop who does it is good, and if they are, they can point you in the direction of the sound you want, i sound nice n mellow like a v 8 would, just i have a shorter stroke cycle that brings the pitch up an octive, not whiney or ricy, just a light 8

Shouldn't be hard to install it.

They will just have to use a piece of 2.25" pipe to make up the gap between the stock and aftermarket muffler.

true, when i had my exhaust done, i had a new cat installed with it, the place i went to is "exhaust special t's" and they gave me a lifetime warrenty against defects and a year on labor due to his fuck up's (so far havnt found one thing not solid with the exhaust)

I have a 2.8L and I am considering a "cat back" type duel system. Anyone done this? I know it won't get me sh*t as far as power, cause the 2.8L is a boat anchor, but I am looking for the sound instead.

I am considering using "cherry bombs" ...
