# of 86 Jetta GL Fuel Pumps

Hello:

A junkyard auto-mechanic recently told me that the 86 Jetta GL I bought from him had both an in-tank fuel pump and an external fuel pump. While the mechanic seems honest and knowledgeable, I question his statement since the Chilton manual for this car only mentions an external fuel pump.

Can anyone verify that the 86 Jetta GL does indeed have an in-tank fuel pump like the mechanic suggested?

Respectfully,

Algorithm

There is a sending unit in the tank and a fuel pump on the rail.{under the car, passenger side, by the rear wheel kinda}

Lesson: Don't trust a Chilton manual tp be totally accurate.
