new rules for BMWhermunn123 12-09-2001, 03:29 PM the rule makers for le mans and alms have made some new rules for the V8 GTR. 100 GTR's have to be built before the opening race, Sebring. in addition to that, the V8 in the M3 has to appear in 1000 vehicles. these rules are basically going to kick out the GTR from racing. there is no way BMW can make it. i am *pissed* Jay! 12-09-2001, 04:43 PM Originally posted by hermunn123 i am *pissed* Why? Why can't they? hermunn123 12-09-2001, 09:33 PM a big reason would be cost. the engine was made specifically made for the GTR. making 1100 of them would cost a pretty penny. ferarri69gt 02-09-2002, 05:40 PM Hi, I heared BMW was gonna start making the GTR street Version but they have already made it official that they wont be entering the ALMS this year. To bad, but wait until next year. They are gonna be faster then ever!!! :) :) :D :D :licker: :bandit: hermunn123 02-10-2002, 12:19 AM i dont even think they will be back the next year. they are not competitive with the 6 cylinder. when the new 3-series comes out and the M3 comes with a V8, expect the M3 to be racing again. until then, i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't race ALMS.
