White smoke coming out of exhaust

My 87 Buick GN has white smoke coming out of my dual exhaust even after the car is running for awhile. I also noticed there seems to be alot of condensation dripping/spitting out of the exhaust. Lastly my exhaust has a strong odor of gas.

What causes this problem and what can I do to remedy it?? If this helps my engine has 84,000+ miles on it.

Thanks

Does your oil look like a cocolate milkshake??? if so then it is a blown head gasket. as far as your stong gas smell do you have a scanmaster or something to get the readings off your O2 sensor?? If not then I can't tell you if your rich or lean

I had the oil changed when I bought the car a couple of months ago and sinced then I've done about 700 miles. I checked the oil level on the dipstick and I'm not burning any oil at all because its at the same level. Also the oil is perfectly clear so I'm at a loss on what to think.

As far as a scanmaster I do plan on getting one in a few months once I get some money to spend on this car. Can't wait to change a few things on it.

Does your car still have the cat. on it? If not, it's very common for GN's to smell of raw fuel with the cat removed, even with the fuel pressure set low.

white smoke is most likely caused by a coolant leak in the engine. you're burning cololant man.

Re: White smoke coming out of exhaust

Before everyone panics, it is possible for the smoke to be steam resulting from low ambient temps and high humidity. Does the steam smell like coolant? Does the engine run hot? If no to either of these questions, it is not coolant. The fuel smell may be the result of poor fuel being used. This can happen regardless of where you get fuel. It could also be the result of short trips and the cat not fully heating. Let's not panic. Let's check some things and draw conclusions from the results of careful testing. Ray
