My SiR at Honda Australia's Roadcraft Training skidpan

Everyone's seen the pics of my SiR so I thought I'd pop these up from the NSW Honda Car Club Xmas meet at Honda Australia's Roadcraft Training (HART) center at St Ives, New South Wales. We were out there today and go to use the skidpan for motorkanaing. Lots of fun (the ITRs were occasionally getting into second - my ratios kept me in first driving conservatively.

We did a dry run and then got the track wet down for some fun and games. Playing were about 5 ITRs, my Civic SiR, 2 '90 Preludes, a WRX wagon, a full house Silvia and a stock new Silvia, 2 real 4WDS (bloody fast would you believe in the twisty cone designated courses) an old skyline a few commodores and a Mazda 121. Fun day out, but my handling loses out to the ITRs even though my car is lighter and we have the same wheelbase. I was about 2 seconds off their pace.

No action shots unfortunately - some on video that I'll try and get stills of. One Wrong direction - no offs, but the sound of the SiR and sme of the ITRs bouncing off the rev limiters was cool

I think the pics should be titled: When I grow up, I want to be an ITR too

Very nice, I havnt done a gymkhana in a long time, in fact last one I did was in my Kitcar with a whole lot of MG's.
(for the yanhs Gymkhana is Autocross on a really small course, with differnt tests, and requires huge levels of car control skill)

Can I ask what tyres your running compared to the ITRs?
doing it on a wet skid pad could have a huge impact on tyre choice.

I was just running some crap street Firestones (the yokohama's that arrived with the car were very, very rooted).

All the cars had street tyres on - even the 4WDs. One of the 'ludes was smoking the tires up something rotten - one of the ITR's has been campaigned a lot - it had smoke out the tailpipe now and then. The full house Silvia was awesome in the U turns - WRX wagon sounded cool, the commodores were... commodores.

All up a fun time out

Here's some of the other cars - the 'ludes were quick - nice torquey engines that didn't have to bounce off the rev limiter.

I really have to work on handling - I think on the khana courses the 2 seconds I was losing was to body roll and having to run lock to lock. 5degrees caster and a 20mm rear bar to replace the rear one are up as Chrissy pressies I think

Thumbs up SiR

That's cool to see a real SiR. I've never seen a "real" one before. My cousin has a 92 Civic HB with a B16A in it so we just call his an "SiR" too and that's about the closest ive seen to a real one.:o Anyways, the car looks good....post some more pics later on.

Although the major part of an SiR is the B16A theres more to it than just the engine, its the whole package.

Ive done them on Tarseal and Grass and I way prefer grass, Its easier on the car and you can slide and spin more.

You ain't kidding. I despair every time that I need a replacement part and then find out it's different to the standard Civics - thank god for Moppie and New Zealand
