Hi there,

I want to install a prostart 5000 3 in 1 alarm system, include remote start, keyless entry and alarm system
but currently the old factory alarm system still working. They are conflict. Could anyone told me how to disable it?
Any idea is welcome.

What problems are you having? THis is one of the easiest VW installs.

after install, the new alarm system can be armed and all LED light flash, but when I kick the car body or drag the door handle, the alarm does not siren. Only remote start, keyless entry working, and remote start only work under one situation, i.e. press unlock first to unlock system, then press remote start. (it should can be start under arm status) If I directly press remote start button, the old factory alarm will horn.

What is the make and model of your alarm/starter and I also need to know what the build date of your Passat is. Look at the driver's door jamb to find out.

Well then I'll tell you what I know. 1st, I know very little about this particular brand. It must be a CDN thing??? Not to impressed that it only has 800' of range. That's almost a 1/3 of range of the ones I sell.

Anyway, your car has a real simple factory alarm (some do not even have any). It simple arms with "lock" and disarms with "unlock". To get around this during remote start, you need to do this. Change the starter's program to "double pulse unlock". Then, you will have to find an output on it that momentarely sends out a pulse only once and does this when you activate the starter. This wire you will want to hook to the "unlock" wire. You may or may not have to diode isolate this wire and the unlock wire from the starter. Most decent remote starters will enable you to do this. If not, let me know.

As for the alarm.... After you arm it, wait about 20 seconds then start beating on it or opening the doors. Some have a waiting period before they actually begin to work. This is assuming you do have a "shock" sensor and hooked up the door triggers???

The Alarm do have the functions you talking about:
just copied from installation manaul

Function: secure Lock
OPTION 1(default) secure lock DISABLED (1-sec. disarm pulse)
OPTION 2 secure lock ENABLED in Smart Mode
OPTION 3 secure lock DISABLED (0.5-sec. disarm pulse)
OPTION 4 secure lock ENABLED in Standard Mode

for each option here is how it is working:

(option 1 ) This feature allows the module to control certain OEM factory alarm systems without requiring the use of other wires for disarming the OEM alarm. (Namely, this feature is designed for OEM
systems which use the factory lock wire to arm the alarm and the unlock wire to disarm it.)

(option 2) If the vehicle is initially locked, upon remote START the module will trigger an UNLOCK and a disarm pulse be-fore
the engine is started. The system will LOCK again when the engine is running, and LOCK once again 4!seconds after shut-down.
If the vehicle is initially unlocked, upon remote START the module will start the engine and arm the starter kill, but the
doors will not be locked or unlocked at any moment of the sequence.

(option 4) If this option is selected, upon receiving a remote START signal, secure lock will UNLOCK the doors (disarming
the factory alarm); 1/2 sec. after remote start it will re-lock the doors. 4 seconds after shutdown, secure lock will re-lock
all doors (arming the system once again). Please note that most OEM systems will not rearm the alarm while
the engine is running, but will lock the doors.

Lock and unlock pulse duration have 4 options:

Option 1: (Default) 7/10-sec. LOCK and 7/10-sec. UNLOCK pulses
Option 2: 4-sec. LOCK/UNLOCK pulses to control vacuum door lock systems
Option 3: A single 7/10-sec. LOCK pulse and two 1/4-sec. UNLOCK pulses
Used for double-pulse disarm/unlock systems.
Option 4: 1/10-sec. LOCK and 1/10-sec. UNLOCK pulses


So which option you suggest I should choose for both secure lock function and door lock pulse timing function?

I think the option 2 or option 4 in secure lock function are what you talking about. Do I also need setup option 3 in door lock pulse timing function at the same time?

Hi there,


As you suggested I have chosed option2 in secure lock, so the remote starter is working fine. But the new arm system still does not work, I do have the shock sensor and hooked up the door triggers. The reason I think the factory alarm conflict with the new alarm is because when I leave one door open and push lock button on the transmitter to arm the system (the factory alarm will not arm cause one door open ), then I try to open the other locked doors , the alarm will siren.
If I close all doors and arm the system (both new alarm system and factory alarm armed ), it will not siren when I try to open the door.

How can I bypass this one?

Hey, hey. I did not say anything about option #2. If what you say is correct, option #2 is for Mercedes doorlocks. You did not say what #3 is all about but I think you need to set #3 and maybe #4 for everything to work correctly.

As far as your alarm problems.... The VW alarm will only arm when you lock with the key or lock it with the New Alarm with the door open then close it. Once all doors are closed, wait about a minute then start to play with the doors. BOTH should go off when you reach in and unlock then open the a door. You might have to play with the sensitivity on the impact sensor. Usually, there is a LED light inside those sensors. If so, does it ever light up??? Also, depending how you hooked up the door triggers, it may only be able to monitor one door at a time. So, if you arm it with one door open and then open another, it will not go off.

Personally, I never worry about the OEM alarm. The only thing I worry about is making sure it disarms when I use the new alarm. It's worthless.

the new alarm do has a LED light, when LOCK, both it and factory alarm LED light (on the driver door) will flashing. Now we have backed to question I asked the first time, what I should do to disarm the factory alarm when I using the new alarm. Did you use any bypass unit or did some special wiring?

To disarm the factory alarm you send one (-) pulse to the door unlock wire. The doors will not unlock with one pulse. They only do it with 2 pulses. So, set up your starter to send out this pulse to the doorlocks when the starter is activated. This is how I did my VW. You will not be able to completely get rid of the fact. alarm. I think it is part of the BCM module in the car.

No, you want it to send the pulse when you remote start it. It should automatically work with the keyless since it arms with lock and disarms with unlock. The first unlock pulse disarms the alarm. The second pulse actually unlocks the car.
