2002 grand am 2.2L ecotec question

Ok I've head that this engine does not have spark plugs or a distribitor. never found them so I assume it doesnt. I wanna know if this is true or not? I've head it ignites the fuel with electrods

You are partically correct. The 2.2 has a DIS ignition system where the plugs are fired by coils controlled by the module.
The ignition system is housed under the cover on top of the engine.

Its a coil over plug design! Which means you have a high voltage coil over a spark plug. The computer figures out where the cylinders are at and fires the one that needs to be fired. GM has not used a dist. in many years on the cars. Its all solid state.

DIS is short for DISTRIBUTORLESS IGNITION SYSTEM.
