350 Question

Hi all:

I just bought a '79 GMC 1/2 ton 2WD. My truck is undergoing a MAJOR renovation of all major systems. In addition to all the work I'm doing, I'm installing aftermarket instruments where the OEM idiot lights were.

The question I have is this: I'm trying to find a source for the oil pressure to tap into. I've found the OEM sending unit by the dist. but wish to use another location because that one is a bear to get to. I found a small (approximately 3/8") pipe plug located at the front of the engine. This plug is about 5/8" above and slightly to the passengers side of the top of the timing cover.

Can I use this port for the oil? Will I have any problems with this location?

Thanks in advance for any help. -Matt
