To be more specific, there is a sensor in the rear (right side) exhaust manifold and another after the catalytic convertor. The first aids the computer in determining proper fuel / air ratio mix. The second aids in determining if the catalytic convertor is working properly.
If these sensors are OK then catalytic convertor problems are not all uncommon. Another simple and often overlooked cause is a loose fuel filler cap as the computer looks for positive pressure in the tank. If the fuel filler cap was the problem then it takes some time for the computer to reset this error code.
Best advice was given in that you should have the control module scanned. That may cost some money, however in terms of saving time it's worth the money, also when you consider that electronic sensors can not be returned if they are not the problem, then the money spent scanning is extremely well spent.
