educate me on the 90 quattro

I have driven civics, and until recently i had a saab 900 turbo that was kinda quick. Now i have set my eyes on the 90. It has a bigger engine so i want to turbocharge it and lighten the flywheel for crazy acceleration and a decent top speed. Im shooting for a max of 160mph, quarter mile isnt interesting really. Now my saab ended up in a telephone pole which is why i went with the quattro, im kinda broke so i wanted an older 90. So which is an old 90 with the quattro drivetrain and a 2.8 engine. So i guess after babbling for so long is what i can expect from a 90 as far as what kind of hp will the engine take, how easy a turbo would go on, price of parts, whether power comes in top or low-end revs, handling issues, etc. Anything like that. i tried searching specifically for the 90 but the search engine is not very intelligent and doesnt let me type in 90. Any info let me know. Also if anyone is looking for a 1987 turbocharged saab 900 convertible, new top alloy rims w/ pirelli tires, new top, 4 liter 175 bhp. let me know

Look, you're information is twisted. First, the Audi 90 typ89 (what you specify as the old one) does not come with the 2.8 12v V6, it comes with a 2.3L inline 5. The newer Audi 90 (B4) first appeared in '93 and was discontinued in 1995, which is the version that sports the 2.8.

If you're looking for a turbo: If you are talking about the 2.8, very few people in the world have sucessfully turbo'd it, I'm working on one now- and that's not an cheap affair. The 2.3L 10v inline 5 can be turbo'd, but it would be far cheaper to drop in a 2.2L inline 5 from an Audi 5000 CS Turbo. Most tuner shops charge $7K to do this; I myself charge $4.5K for the conversion. But, this can be easily done by any skilled technician with the proper tools. It is a bolt in procedure. The price of the parts are relatively inexpensive and with a MC Code motor you'll meet your expectations in performance.

Oh, and by the way, I HAVE an Audi 80 Turbo Quattro laying in a junkyard not being driven. Sacrilege It's been sitting awhile, it needs a paint job, but I'm selling it for $2500 dollars and will have it looking and driving good should somebody want to purchase it.Audi 80 Turbo Quattro

Not parting out the car...Putting the engine in the car is what makes it so special. IF you want to build the engine (like the one in my car):

-MC II Code Engine with K26 (not K24)
-Ported and Polish Head, Intake Manifold
-Blueprinted Injectors
-Upsolute programming (boost increased to 18psi)

With 93 octane and proper intercooling, you too can have 225bhp running CIS. Total cost to build this engine was $1000.
