I have a 91' G20 i got for free from my older sister. Its an automatic with 63k original miles. I have a custom intake and cat-back exhaust. My driver side window will not go down anymore and its pissin me off. I had a friend check it out and he said the motor was bad. How much do they cost? Are they easy to install?

You should visit an Infiniti dealer and see what they say. then come back here and maybe someone will tell you if its a rip off or not
Anyway, no matter if you want to fix it your self, you should go to the dealer and let them explain to you what is wrong and what you need, then maybe you can buy the parts from somewhere.

I tore my whole door apart today and checked and tested the switches and the motor. My next door neighbor helped me (hes and electrician) We took the motor out of the door and tore it apart and we found out the brushes inside the motor were bad so we went to the local part store and bought brushes for an alternator and cut them down with a dremel tool till they fit and we put it all back together and my window works fine now. It was a pain in the ass but i didnt have the money for a new motor and the brushes were just 2 dollars. It took us like 4 hours to do it all.

Thumbs up about your window . . .

If you can, find a way to properly diagnose your problem. What I mean is, make sure that your power window motor is toast before you try to replace it.

In my experience, my driver's window went down one day, and didn't come back up. The local stealership told me it was my power window motor and some relays . . . long story short they wanted to rape me in the range of $700 . . .

The part that was actually faulty was not the motor but something called a "power window amplifier" or something like that. Trial and error led me to an original nissan part that came off of a 300zx (can't remember which year). It cost less than $70 from Courtesy Nissan, and the install was very straightforward. I can try to find the part number, but I've never been good at keeping that kind of information . . .

G20 window problems...aargh!!!

Hi,

I have a 1992 that I am slowly fixing up. anyways...I had the same problem with the brushings inside the window motor going bad. (on BOTH FRONT WONDOWS IN THE SAME WEEK!!!!) Since I'm basically a mechanical moron I had someone else do the labor...parts were nothing basically. Result...about $300...but I believe the factory ones were over $300 each!!!

good luck...
