oxygen sensor

I think the Oxygen sensor went on my brothers 96 2.0 Jetta Treck. The check engine light is flashing and the car is bucking like crazy. Does anyone know where the oxygen sensor is located on these cars? And also, has anyone had a problem with theur O2 sensor?

hey, yea there is another thread in this room about the same/similar problem... infact my 97 jetta is having a problem like it also... mostly only whe nits damp or wet out... anyway i THINK but am not sure that the o2 sensor is in the hose that connects from the motor to the air box/intake (if you have an intake)... there is like a plastic "connector," if you will, that connects between the hose and the air box... i believe this connector houses the o2 sensor... i think i remember seeing it when i installed my intake... lemme know if you need more help finding it, and if it works or not!

you have two o2 sensors or this is what i have come to believe you have one on your header and one on your cat. most likely it is the one on you caty that is messing up. i had this problem but it was because i had but a bigger cam shaft in and after that my check engine light came on so what i had to do was go to caspers.com and get a "fake" o2 sensor that always tell the computer that you car is running 100% efficent. thats whaty i did but i do not know what you have done to you car
