Cold Air Intake

Ok im getting a Hotshot Cold Air Intake System. The filter is going to be below the engine so that when it rains water is going get into my filter. What happens when water gets into the filter? Does it effect the engine or just wear down the filter quicker?

when water gets into your filter, your engine stalls out and you have to wait until it completely dries to get it going again..real pain in the ass, and i'd imagine its hard on your O2 sensors and your injectors.

yes and what he forgot to mention is that if you get enough water in it then you can freeze up your engine because it will take the oil out, then you have a real problem because you have to rebuild it if you want it to work again... this is what happened to my friends truck that i bought and rebuilt

however if your cold air intake goes down over the plastic shield under the car and in front of the tires it shouldn't have any problems because it has rained for the past 5 days and i haven't sucked any water up driving 45 min to school and back each day.

They make bypass valves so that you dont get water into your intake system.
