2000 Grand Am Remote Program

If I want to get a Remote for my 2000 Grand Am Se1 off of Ebay, what do I need to compare as far as #'s go? I know I need to compare the numbers on the Back of the remote to my VIN Somehow, but what am I looking for? If anyone can help me out and possibly tell me if I even need to worry about the #;s, and I just need to get any 2000 Pontiac remote and Program it myself. Please, any help is appreciated!

I don't think you need to worry about the numbers on the back of the keyless entry. You will need to program your remotes though. I found this on one of the forums here - saved me a lot of time and probably some cash as well. Here's the link:

I cannot take credit for this, so thank you to whomever provided this information. One thing I needed to do was hold down the Lock/Unlock buttons on the keyless entry systems for longer than 4 seconds. It actually took mine about 20 seconds to initialize.

I hope that helps!
