LT4 conversion

i was looking at GM parts store last night and i came accross a LT4 conversion kit from a LT1. i was wondering if this is just i watered down version of the LT4 or is it the real thing after the conversion. the kit was $2k and i was just wondering if it was worth spending the money on it and how much power increase there would be.

Looks like it to me. It says that that kit is what is needed to change an LT1 into an LT4. The numbers on the block will give away that it's not a true LT4, but who cares when you've got that performance upgrade???

That's the plan. I graduate in December, hope to have a good paying job with a firm soon there after. I want to leave my SS to a weekend vehicle, that way I can do with it what I want, and get one of those Impalas for the daily work grind. Putting an LT4 conversion on it would just make it more of a bonus, smoking the tires with 4 people in the car sitting comfortably

The LT4 is to the LT1 what the LS6 is to the LS1. It's an upgrade basically that was rated at 385 hp if I remember correctly...

Re: LT4 conversion

the LT4 has the GM H.O.T cam, better flowing heads, and intake manifold, the manifold is also red. the LT1 is rated for 300 hp and the LT4 is rated for 330 hp. in my oppinion $2500 could buy you alot more horse power, but LT4 is deffinatly more cool points than LT1
