Removing 96 Grand Am Se Instrument PanelCory2003 10-06-2003, 10:34 PM Can Anyone tell me in some detail how i can remove the instrument panel on my 1996 Grand AM SE, so i can change the stero. All i need to know is how to get the panel off. The more detial the better, PLEASE help me! mike_drz 10-06-2003, 11:08 PM I may have not explained too clearly the first time. I know when I first tried to to remove the the panel it was kind of intimidating, it's not too hard actually but it's easy to crack something if you're not careful. First you need to remove a couple of black screws, there are about 4 underneath your steering wheel, (not directly underneath) but more twoards the rear, you'll have to lay down to get to them, and there there are two more that I missed the firt time. You know that tray where u usually through loose change(the one in front of the gear shifter) just above that tray there is a rectangular compartment, at the back there are two screws that are hard to spot. After you've removed all the screws you just pry off the plastic piece, this panel is pretty long, it goes all the way from the radio to the left side past the steering wheel. All you have to do now is pry it upwards and it'll snap away from the dashboard. Just becareful about the dimmer dail to the left of the steering wheel the wire that goes to it could break if u pull it too hard. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
