98 kia Sportage Airbag ProblemHondaSi88 10-06-2003, 08:45 PM Hi guys, I'm new to the board. I was wondering if anyone has a service or repair manual of some sort to assist me with an airbag light problem. The steering column was taken apart and the airbags disconnected in the process. The light has been flashing since it has been reassembled and has not stopped since. The auto parts store dont have the haynes manuals they always sell so i am desperate to solve this problem soon cause i'm thinking the airbags may deploy. If anyone has a factory service manual of some sort or know anywhere on the internet or elsewhere i may be able to find some info i would greatly appreciate any help offered. Thanks in advance Paul flyingskwerrl 10-09-2003, 02:28 AM did you try disconnecting and reconnecting the BATT? HondaSi88 10-09-2003, 01:01 PM Thanks for responding! I have tried isconnecting and reconnecting the battery numerous times but no changes. The airbag makes 1 long flash, 6 short flashes and another 8 short flashes then does it over and over. I have rechecked the connections a few times also. I was hoping someone had a factory service manual with airbag diagnostic proceedures could help me out! Thank you! The Air Bag Warning Light should illuminate. If it does not, refer to Air Bag Warning Light service. The Air Bag Warning Light should go out after approximately 5 seconds. If it stays out, the system is OK. If the Air Bag Warning Light remains illuminated, there is a problem in the Air Bag-Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). Turn the ignition switch to LOCK. Locate the data link connector (DLC) in the left side of the engine compartment and install the Scan Tool. Turn the ignition switch to ON and record any Air Bag Diagnostic Trouble Codes displayed.
