the J30 was a rear-wheel drive with a 3.0 V6 210hp engine

the I30 was a front-wheel drive 3.0 V6 190hp
the I30 was based on the Nissan Maxima and Nissan Cefiro
those 3 cars shared most of their hardwares

The dealer always (until G35 came out) gave me an I30 to drive while my J30T was in the shop. From behind the wheel (not necessarily reflected in the numbers) it seemed like the I30 was faster, lighter, better handling, and WAY uglier than the J30.

The J30 is like driving a boat, I've never trusted how it handles. And in the winter you'd better keep a bible under your seat for quick reference. But I'm so egocentric that looks is all that matters to me. And in the looks department there is no contest: The J30 looks good, the I30 looks like just another semi-lame attempt to turn a cookie cutter family car into a pretend luxury car. Just my opinion of course.
