Aftermarket intake & exhaust

Okay, I HAVE to replace my mufflers, I've got one with a hole in it and it sounds all gnarly. I want something that sounds sweet, but is relatively inexpensive. I'd love to have Flowmasters, but I don't think I can afford those. Anyone have any suggestions for something that's got that low, throaty burble, but won't make me go broke? Same thing for the intake, I want an aftermarket intake, I'd prefer K&N, but I want something a bit cheaper, but I want something good.

Flows are the best way to go..as far as mufflers for a GTP. They seem to sound the best, although I prefer my stockers teamed with an RT offroad pipe.

As far as intakes, I'd go with a FWI. You can either buy a pre-made one here: http://ww2.netnitco.net/users/cheetah/k3022.html

Or you can buy the one that PFYC sells, although I think it's a bit overpriced.

There's a third alternative to it. You can make one out of PVC piping, or have an exhaust shop bend you a 3" pipe.

intake

Id build my own CAI with 9" K&N. or if you have $200 the new wizard is showing the best gains... about 17hp over other CAIs. heres a link

FWIs outperform CAIs though We have at least 7 members in our club chapter with FWIs, and they are much happier than they were with their CAIs.

Did you look at the numbers for the wizard CAI? A CAI done right would be the same if not better than a FWI? I would think... All i know is Ive seen dynoed proof of the CAI and not the FWIs....
Do you have Dynos of the FWIs on a stock GTP vs a CAI with 9" K&N cone? not just a cone sitting out under the hood but inclosed mind you.

No..I don't have dyno numbers. Dyno numbers don't mean much when you're talking about something like a FWI. It's much more effective going down the road that it will ever be sitting on a dyno.

Thanks for all the info, I've pretty well decided that I'm gonna save up the money and go with the Flowmasters. As for the intake, I think I'll get my dad to help me build my own CAI.

don't believe the hype unles you have a ram air hood and the thrasher CAi with ram air lid, just buy a replacement K&N air filter and remove the throttle body screen I took the entire air intake system apart and the entry point is the same diameter as the throttle body or bigger, the extra air coming in because you removed the throttle body screen and air filter will give your engine a better response and for exhaust just go to your local auto parts store and get the dynomax turbo bufflers theyll cost about $45 and galvanized exhaust pipe is relatively cheap, these mufflers will definately intimdate some kid in a Rice mobile with a coffee can muffler.

Get a high flow cat and some dynomax mufflers, I found the flowmasters to be really loud. Also if you don't protect your PCM with a CAI and water gets into it, you will then wind up with all kinds of problems.

I recently purchased 2 flowmasters off of ebay. I paid $113.00 INCLUDING the S/H. They were the 40 series flowmasters. Search EBAY for flowmaster 40 series.
