sun roof wont go down all the way and wont go up...triplerc 10-01-2003, 05:59 PM I have this problem with my 99 neon and the sun roof was working perfectly the day before and now.. it wont close all the way about a half inch gap before it closes and wont open any higher than that. Battery is 2 days old BRAND new! As far as i can tell is that the passenger side is moving but the driver side of the sunroof doesnt move. anyone know what is up anyhelp is welcome thanks and does anyone know how much it would cost to fix? :uhoh: Neoneyes 10-15-2003, 10:10 AM I have a 2000 neon and mine had the same problem, i would have to nudge it down the last inch when ever i thought it might rain and that , of course, , didn't work well either and rain water would seep in... :disappoin so I took it in to the dealership ( warrenties are worth their weight in gold sometimes) and it was a fault in the track and was $450 to replace. Apparently all those black plastic quieter tracks get rough spots in them , they replaced it with a shiney metal one and i haven't had any problems with it since then, although it is a bit noise-y-er (sidenote, i tried lubeing it before replacing it, as was advised by the family mechanic, didn't work :grinno: hahah) Skydogg 03-29-2004, 01:32 AM If you don't have it under warranty and don't want to pay. I just fixed mine roof so it fits flush and doesn't leak anymore. Now of course i can't use it anymore because the gears are all worn out, and it makes a horrible grinding noise when it moves. I would rather spend my money on something else then to have my roof open up. Scatch! 04-01-2004, 09:33 PM Unfortunately the manual doesn't instruct owners to lube the tracks and gears, but it is needed to keep them alive. Also, the sunroof glass needs to be properly adjusted as well, since it puts uneven pressure on the mechanism otherwise. Once the parts break, as in the above situations, it's too late. :( I think there's a archived thread on Neons.org concerning this... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
