Post Engine vibration 1995 Corolla

I have a AE102 Corolla which has developed an annoying engine vibration between 1,000-2,000rpm with or without load. The vibration when started from a cold engine rattles the windows and dash. It is really annoying.

I have had it to the mechanics they said it ti the engine mounts getting hard. Does anyone have any idea of another cause? Their explanation seems a bit limp to me, engine mounts in my expriance get sloppy not hard with age.

vibration

I replaced the passenger side engine mount in my '94 and it took care of the problem. I had a similar vibration at 1200 rpm or so. It caused to mirrors to vibrate as well. The mount was kind of pricy--$90. The old mount did not even look worn, but I guess that the rubber was hardened. Best $90 I ever spent because the vibration was driving me crazy!

Thanks for the advice I have boked the car in to the mechanics to get that done, I hope it works fo me as well as it did for you as like you it is driving me crazy, almost to the point I want to sell a perfectly good car apart from that.

Thanks again John

enigne mount replacement

Make sure they change the passenger-side mount--it is located toward the top of the engine in back of the winshield washer fluid reservior. I had changed the front engine mount first and it did not help one bit!
Good luck!

When you mean the passenger side Mount are you talking about the LH or RH side of the car when seated in the drivers seat? As in Australia we have RH drive cars and I am not sure which country you are writing from.

Thanks again for your hints.

I assume that the engine is oriented the same way as US cars with the belts on the right side.

Re: Engine vibration 1995 Corolla

I've got the same vibrating problem in my '94 corolla, witch is very annoying. The mechanic replaced the back engine mount but there was no change, it vibrates the same.

I'll try changing the passenger side mount as sjr8ut suggested.

My '95 Corolla was experiencing the same engine vibration and changing the upper RH engine mount solved the problem. The engine is actually quiet upon start up, no more rattles in the dash and no more mirror vibrations. It was a relatively easy replacement, took about 1 hour and 10 minutes from start to finish.

i would also think that the engine mounts are getting worn out.
you may also check you if your exhaust piping is hitting anything on your chassis. this could cause a lot of vibrations too.

Just get an aftermarket exhaust and there will be so many vidrations that you will just stop caring about them!

Can you apply pressure to the engine mount to quiet it before replacing it? For example- breaker-bar, large pipe, screwdriver. My wife's car sounds like a coffee can filled with bolts on cold mornings at idle.
